Airport and transport – (from Rogač) daily ferry and catamaran lines to Split (15 km); airport (from the port of Split 25 km).
History – (see Island Šolta); it is the oldest coastal village on the island (probably 16th century).
Interesting to see: the baroque church of Our Lady of Pines (on the hill) and near the church is a graveyard with fragments of sarcophagus from the antiquity.
Info – it is the oldest port on the island; it has been famous for its fleet of big wooden ships that were used to carry Solta’s wine and olive oil to markets on mainland and in Italy (only five or six such ships are still docked in Stomorska; they now take tourists on cruises around the Adriatic); economically the most developed tourist village with many cafés and taverns; tourism started at 1934 with building of the ‘Olinta’ hotel.
Where to go out: fishermen’s nights; large number of cafés.
