History – in late 14th century Franciscan monks from Bosnia were given ownership of a part of the island Badija (where they maintained a presence on the island for centuries); the island and its monastery were used as a sports centre from 1950’s to 2000’s; the monastery and part of the island was returned to the Franciscan order in 2004.
Interesting to see: Franciscan Monastery (14th century); church of Lady of the Mercy (15th century).
